I'm not exactly thrilled to part with this, but I need to downsize the house some and a may need to part with a few instruments.
I picked this up in 2018 from an elderly man selling some things out of his garage. No labels or stamps that I can observe inside or outside. The only other mandolin he had was labeled Meinel & Herold. This mandola however appears fairly new. 1990s-2000s was an estimate I got online.
My guess is this may have been a student luthier instrument as there are some things absolutely beautifully done (multiple ribs, overall finish), and others that seem a bit amateurish or raw (the nut, trimming of the fretboard over the sound hole).
Scale length measures 17". Currently tuned in CGDA with D'Addario mandola strings.
Tuners are a bit stubborn, but I could probably take the time to take them off and clean them. Or simply replace them with a better quality tuner. There is a crack through the middle that seems common with many older acoustic instruments (my own 70s ovation has needed this repaired).
No case and I'm not sure where or how to even find one for this without trying to make one myself.
After shipping an octave mandolin, I have a better idea of how to ship this. I am offering shipping in the US using UPS ground. I am also reducing the cost as I am still trying to shrink my room some.
