Works great
Description from Matt:
The PI is the answer to e-mails asking what's the best muff for that 90s alternative sound. The big, open sounding, gritty, grindy, fuzzy sustain like Dinosaur Jr., Mudhoney, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, etc. What I have been doing is looking into all the late 70s Ram's Head and early 80s Black and Red muffs (these are not like the new NY black & red muffs). I noticed that these were all very similar. In fact, I found an 80s Black and Red to be the same as the Ram's Head J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. uses. I think this is a very rare moment in Electro-Harmonix history where there was some sort of consistency in making the muffs. I decided to go through all the versions and come up with one version I felt had the best of all of them. The result is the PI. One thing I really wanted to do on these muffs is keep that huge open grind but give back some low end that can sometimes get lost. The PI has a bit more low end added back in to give the tone a nicer feel especially in the lower notes. The Chords have that classic wall of gritty fuzz and the leads have a certain full, smooth grind to them.
