I've owned several of these early L series guitars, and they are some distinctly impressive instruments. This L-Junior has a carved spruce top over birch back & sides. The tuners are likely original and function well, the bridge is period correct but I'm not certain if it is original, and the tailpiece is original while the top portion appears to have been replaced.
There are some areas of shrinkage around the back that can be seen on Gibson mandolins and guitars from this era, and someone put a screw in the heel of the neck years ago. There is also a very small crack at the base of a grain line near the right of the tailpiece. There could have been some over spray on the sides and back, but I've also seen similar original darker stains on these models. Assorted finish wear, yet the frets and action are surprisingly good. Scale length is just over 24", 14" lower bout, and 10" upper bout. Non-original case included.
Overall, this is a fun and funky guitar that just needs its next owner.
