Pre-CBS Fender Bandmaster head with upgraded VINTAGE transformers and upgraded cab. I have played and owned many amps over the years, and this one has been my #1 for many years. It really is special. Everyone knows the blackface Bandmasters were fantastic amps, but they had one weakness- the small transformers. Well, this particular one was upgraded a long time ago with Fender iron from a Twin/Dual Showman dating back to 1968/1969. This fattens up the amp significantly and gives it a fat bottom end with the high end sparkly you expect from a blackface. The vibrato mod has also been done, which uses a switchable pot on the vibrato circuit to completely remove vibrato from the signal path when switched off. This gives a touch more gain, and allows it to breakup a bit sooner. Obviously, this mod is easily reversible if not desired, and the original non-switchable pot is included. Filter Caps were replaced with Sprague Atoms, original caps in bag. Zero issues.

The cab has also been upgraded with what many call the “Holy Grail” combo- a Vintage 30 and a Greenback. The original Fender Oxford speakers, in great condition, can be purchased separately, if desired. Although the cab is not original to the head, it is from the same era, and complements the head well. Sounds fantastic.

Overall a very good, “player grade” combo that delivers super cool vintage aesthetics and THE Fender tone. It’s simply the best sounding Bandmaster I’ve ever heard.
