Beautiful example of a first year of manufacture (1956), V prefix on the serial number stamped inside. Wikipedia says only 550 were made between 1956-1958. Like an ES-125 but with trap inlays, bound neck, layered pick guard and individual tuners (not 3-on a plank).
The original sunburst finish is vibrant and the whole guitar still has a bright gloss but completely, finely crazed. There are several minor dings on the sides and one on the top but the back is free of wear.
Someone asked about the neck; it's a medium D shape. I measure thickness at 7/8" at the first fret and 1" at the 11th, not including the fret height.
The ORIGINAL electronics work properly, the neck is straight, action low, minor fret wear on the first three, plays wonderfully and delivers that jazz tone. The tuners, tailpiece (is a vintage nickel finished Gibson) and tail pin have been changed. I don't have the original parts. I now HAVE removed the pickup and viewed the pots to verify originality.
