MIKE LULL THUNDERBIRD SINGLE PICKUP MARY KAY FINISH

This Mike Lull Thunderbird is a true one-of-a-kind. I picked it up at The Bass Shop in Seattle, and in 2018, I took it straight to Mike Lull himself for some work. It’s been set up with flat-wound pickups and used for indie rock recordings in a smoke-free, pet-free studio. The Mary Kay finish on the ash body, paired with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, gives it a timeless, clean look, and the lightweight Hipshot hardware keeps the whole thing effortless to play—zero neck dive, and surprisingly light for a Thunderbird. the bass has flatwounds on it .50 - .110 so it will need a tweak if you go with a lighter gauge I used it for clean picking tones.

This one’s got history too. It originally came from Mike Lull’s personal collection, passed to a friend, and eventually landed at The Bass Shop. It’s the only single-pickup model I’ve ever seen, which adds to its cool, understated vibe. As much as it hurts to part with, it’s been collecting dust as my backup to a Rickenbacker—the only bass I really need. Comes with a fitted case.
