Ultra-rare chance !! German Audio Engineering at its best! Read!

This listing is for a pair original vintage RFT RFZ (the GermaNeve) KV input-channelstrips! Have a look at the pics. Transformer balanced, fully discrete, insane 80dB of clean gain (for the lowest output ribbon mics) with huge vintage sound. MV810 successor and KV80/1 predecessor.

Best base for a top-notch 2-channel mic/line preamp rack ! Read!

In another of my listings, you will also find a listing with 4pcs. KVs in a bundle, if 2 are too less!

Comes from a real "MONSTER" of a mixing console (a RT 24/1 - first mixer on the pics) and is the predecessor of the legendary "MONSTER" of a mixing console (the MP4084 - second mixer on the pics : ) For sure, you are NOT bidding on one of the mixers !! Just the 2 pcs. KVs !!

Not selling them "as is" like many others do... If you don`t like them, return them! No risk!

For sure, with some signs of wear! More than 50 years old..., but in overall good condition.

Be aware, the KV are very similar to the KV80 and KV80/1 (in design and sound), but they have a different size and are different in some details. So, these KVs are NO spare-parts for an MP4084 console! Please have a look at the pics! The silver-faced KV80/1 is smaller than the grey-faced KVs!! Circuit-wise, they are very, very similar and both sound fantastic!

They will beat a Neumann V476 with easy and are at the same league as the Telefunken V676. Not a very big surprise, as the design of the RFZs was overseen by some Telefunken Engineers! They offer a rich, fat and punchy sound with a very deep low end.

Several people are using the KVs preamps as line-amps before active-monitors or power-amps with excellent results. In lot of those cases, they have replaced very expensive high-end hifi-preamps! But for sure, they are more interesting for studio-use.

The KVs offer plenty of clean and warm sounding gain. Insane 80dB !! That is enough even for the lowest output ribbon mic!

With the KVs, RFT RFZ tried to exceed the audiophile qualities of their 700- and 800 series. (V781 or MV810 f.e.) and also tried to design more compact consoles with higher amounts of in- and outputs. The RT24/1 (first mixer on the pics) was the result, but only a few of them have been built. This is where my KVs are coming from. Than, it was followed by the MP4084 (second mixer on the pics). The sound is exactly the same, but they managed to create the same mixer with a smaller footprint (both are still Monsters ! : ). The advantage of my KVs is, that they are a little bit easier to service as they are not as compact as the KV80 and KV80/1. So, if you are going to rack them up, it will be a bit easier.

I only have the schematics and docs for the KV80 and KV80/1, but they are pretty much the same and work also for the KVs.

RACKING: It is not too hard to rack these preamps, as they have all necessary functions on-board. For sure, a Gain-pot and a fader (very cool to attenuate the output by moving down the fader and to increase the input, to drive the Mu-Metall shielded transformer into a nice saturation!). But the KVs also provide these three little switches with the following functions from left to right:

1. Low-Cut Filter on/off, 2. Source switch: Mic-Input / Line Input (separate inputs), 3. Phantom-power on/off

So, these functions are still integrated in the channels!

Especially switch #3 (phantom-power) is a really cool and exotic design which you will not find anywhere else! Let me explain: The preamp itself is powered with -24V. For the phantompower, you will need a PSU with an additional 100V rail. The KVs are generating a 48V phantom-power for modern condenser-mics. But not only that! If you use the KVs with a vintage 12V mic with the so-called "Tonaderspeisung", the KV notive that and switches from 48V phantom-power to 12V Tonaderspeisung automatically !! If you want to use old Neumann Gefell MV690, MV691, MV692, PM750 or old Schoeps and Sennheiser mics with 12V Tonaderspeisung, you can simply connect them and the KV will feed them correctly!

So, to rack these up, you need a housing with the connectors (XLR, Jack, IEC) as well as a PSU with -24V and 100V and that´s it...

Fo sure, you can also rack them with a -24V and 48V PSU and use f.e. a JLM Audio Go Between for phantompower, but than, you will need additional holes for switches ect.

As said, I am able to provide the KV80, KV80/1 schematics, which will also work for these KVs. Beside that, I do not have any further accessoires!

Grab your chance, these preamps are very, very rare and sound soo stunning!! Best of vintage German Audio Engineering!

Price is 699,00 EUR (excl. VAT) for 2 pcs.!

I also have a listing with 4 pcs in a bundle, if interested!
