The classic F. Besson of France MEHA trumpet 0.470" LARGE BORE upon which most modern trumpets have copied its' design from CONN to BACH, BENGE and others to get that classic sound. This post World War II fabrication was crafted under contract from Besson around 1972 based on the serial number 101XXX in England by Boosey and Hawks and bears the Besson bell engraving of: "PARIS-FRANCE, F. BESSON, MEHA diamond logo, FABRICATION FRANCASE PERFECTIONEE". Pre-war MEHA's are rare and played out and later 1982-85 ZIG KANSTUL of CALIFORNIA reproductions were altered from their French design with a crook of a different shape and with thinner gauge brass in their construction. The 1972 Boosey and Hawks fabrication is more authentic. This trumpet has been refurbished by master craftsman Charlie Melk of "Charlie's Brass Works". The following work was done:
1. REBUILD 3 valves - complete piston refit, with copper build. Valve alignment and complete cleaning. CBW.
2. Supply new gold brass leadpipe tube, install original receiver and supply new tuning slide tube.
Polish and silverplate.
3. Mount leadpipe - spot silver plate joints.
- 0.470" LARGE BORE
- Precision valve alignment for fast and smooth valve action
- Great compression
- BACH 18 mouthpiece
- Sturdy wood reinforced trumpet case - w/two handles (latches work but no keys)
