Harmony 6210 Nylon String full size “classical” circa 1970
Very good condition all birch body slot head ladder braced nylon string guitar made by Harmony in Chicago in 1973 (F-73 stamp). This one is missing the label which would have been gold paper w/ brown lettering fixed inside the sound hole (I have had several of this exact model.)
I hesitate to call some of Harmony’s nylon string guitars “classical” because they have simple ladder bracing as opposed to fan bracing found on their solid spruce top models. This model has a yellowish top painted to look like spruce grain, but it is birch under the paint job. Cool brown stencil faux rosette around the sound hole, like many Harmony made nylon and steel string guitars of the late ‘60’s-early ‘70’s era. Solid birch sides & back in a dark-stained natural finish. The neck angle on this guitar is fine but there is some top bulge under the bridge making the action a bit on the high end, even for a “classical” guitar. The bridge is tight-to-the-top with no lift, and there is enough saddle to be shaved a little and still maintain a good string break angle, if you’re inclined to make that adjustment. Slot headstock w/ Kluson tuners and three gold “racing stripes” for decoration. Two-inch wide synthetic nut and non-radiused fingerboard, 12-frets-to-the-body. New set of Ernie Ball classical ball-end strings.
The the heel cap is beginning to peel off a bit, which is not at all uncommon on older Harmony’s. It could be re-glued back down but it may be a little crumbled.
