This one is original where it counts and has had a sympathetic overhaul in our workshops.
The power transformer was smoking (not an ideal feature!) so we’ve replaced it with a new one. This doesn’t adversely affect the sound, but does make it more practical for UK/EU use as it’s now set up for 220/240v and earthed (and it can be switched over to 110v if required).
The cone of the original speaker, which will be included in the sale, has disintegrated so we’ve fitted a Vox Alnico Blue – the voicing of which we feel maximises the breakup tone. If you want a more chimey/clean top end, then a modern American voiced speaker might suit you better – we’re happy to fit whatever the buyer requests.
The previous owner created a very handsome and well-made replacement handle that puts most after-market options to shame.
All in all this is a stunning amp that’s ready to roar for the next 60 years!
CONDITION: Power transformer and speaker replaced (originals included). Handle is a replacement (see info above). This unit is generally very good but has a lot of discolouration to the tweed case, see the photo where the back panel is removed for the original colour.
