Offering a working 1940's "Fatboy" microphone, licensed by Shure to be sold through Bogen Sound Systems.

Interesting story behind Bogen, David Bogen was a young Russian Jewish immigrant who went on to form a company in the 1930's, Bogen Sound Systems, which became a leading supplier of sound and communication equipment!

This model U10X "Fatboy" is not a knockoff, it's identical to the Shure 55, and licensed through a relationship between Shure and Bogen. This model was paired up in many of Bogen's public address systems. It's in rather nice condition having had no restorations or repairs ever...100% original. The casing has mild signs of use and wear, has the original delicate screen cloth intact with no holes or tears. The maker's badge on the grip is worn, but still readable, and the pivot joint holds the tilt angle firmly. Sonically, it's output is about at 75% of normal...would suggest using an inline pre-amp for maximum results. It definitely has a big mid-range bump with low-freq roll-off. (You can request a voice sample.) The 3 impedance selector switch works in all 3 positions. This sale includes the adjustable-height "On Stage" desk stand, plus a new 5' Amphenol to male XLR plug. (We can swap the XLR for a 1/4" phono plug if you prefer.) Mic with stand measures 17-22" tall.
