Vintage Tone Out Of The Box

The DGT (David Grissom Trem) is the result of more than 20 years of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom. The DGT is based on the McCarty platform with a unique DGT neck shape, taller frets, special pickups, and a revised control layout. Grissom and Paul spent a year A/B-ing more than forty sets of pickups before nailing the vintage-voice of DGT humbuckers. When paired with individual volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull master tone control that operates the coil taps, DGT pickups provide versatility and articulation.

Comfortable DGT neck carve

Whether you’re playing rhythm or leads, this guitar’s DGT neck carve is your ticket to rock. Sitting close to PRS’ acclaimed Pattern Regular neck carve, the DGT carve features modestly enhanced shoulders for a touch more substance than your standard “C” neck. The DGT carve especially improves playability on the lower strings; it’s ideal for versatile players, especially those who favor bluesy stylings that demand excellent playability at either end of the neck. And for comfort you can count on, the DGT features extra-tall jumbo frets for effortless action and rolled fingerboard edges for a feel that feels broken in — even right out of the box.

Texas-tinged DGT humbuckers

Taking inspiration from the Lone Star State stomping grounds of David’s career, two onboard DGT humbuckers deliver vintage-inspired, smokey Texas-tinged tone for a must-hear take on the veritable PAF. David and Paul Reed Smith personally spent a year testing and refining 40-plus pairs of pickups before narrowing the options down to these two masterpieces — each carefully crafted and assembled at PRS’ Maryland-based facility.

Custom controls

The DGT’s pickup controls are extremely customized and gig-ready. You get a master volume knob for each pickup, which makes switching and blending onstage a breeze; meanwhile, a push-pull master tone knob gives instant access to high-quality single-coil tones. The pickup selector is also scooted back behind the bridge, so you’ll never hit it with your strumming hand during a set. It all adds up to more proof that David’s “signature” on the PRS DGT is much more than just a rubber stamp.
