Tempo is one of those Matsumoku-made brands that we keep an eye out for, and this 335-style hollow body is a great example of why.
Tempo was a brand stretching back to the 50s from a New York company called Merson, that through a raft of mergers and acquisitions in the 60s evolved into Univox, and moved from New York City to Westbury, Long Island.
In addition to the Univox offerings like the Hi-Flier, the company also imported versions of the Aria and Matsumoku-built models such as as the Univox Coily and 5102T. We've even had Tempo badged versions of the Univox/Aria UC-2 Jazzmaster style guitar.
As you can hear and see in the demo video, this hollow body is in remarkable shape and has an ES-335 shape with a thin line body depth. The pick guard is missing, but everything else appears original, including the pair of single coil pickups housed in a humbucker-style casing.
Adjustable roller bridge, good quality tuners, low action and straight neck with minimal fret wear. Simple volume and tone pair of knobs, with a Bigsby-style tremolo

About Automatic Jack
As with all the axes in the Automatic Jack Shack, the Swede -- my guitar
craftsman and collaborator in gear -- has given this his full treatment,
checking, fixing and optimizing all the electronics, hardware and
functionality from headstock on down. Of course, our vintage is
old stuff,
so bear in mind that many of our listings are for 30-40+ year-old
instruments, with the typical kind of wear and quirks that comes with
that. Vintage gear tends to be imperfect and in need of ongoing care. We
are dedicated to delivering the most playable, high-quality and
modestly-priced guitars and gear we can. But we are players and people.
We want to offer great deals and deal with great people.
