The F. Besson trumpet was the first modern trumpet, and was copied by a number of American instrument makers, from C.G. Conn to Vincent Bach. This trumpet is an early post-WWII model based on the valve casing construction, and is a true French-made Besson. This trumpet is in original condition and shows only minor repairs to the bell bow. The valves are nickel plated and have good action, but no compression. As with most Bessons, the valves do not hold compression, but the horn plays surprisingly well. The upper register is clear and resonant, although the low register, particularly below low C is a bit out of focus, most likely due to the valve fit. The serial number falls in the range of overlapped serial numbers that were reused before and after WWII which is why the instrument is dated by the valve casing construction. I am happy to provide serial number info to serious buyers; I have obscured the serial number in these photos to deter scammers from reposting my ads. Additional photos available upon request.
