Offbeat Guitars "Roxanne P2" 32" Scale Bass in Butterscotch Candy on distressed Eastern White Pine featuring a carbon fiber reinforced Hades Roasted Maple Neck with a Rosewood Fretboard, EMG PVHZ (neck) and GZR-P (bridge) Passive Pickups with Push/Pull, Series/Parallel Switch for Each, Gotoh Res-O-Lite Tuners, Gotoh Vintage-Style, Solid Brass Bridge, Hand Aged Solid Brass Pickguard, DR Dragon Skin Strings, and Aged Hardware.
I find it interesting that medium scales aren't more popular than they are. As someone who played mostly 34" scale basses for 25 years and switched to predominately short scales for the last 15 years, I feel like it's kind of the "Goldilocks" of scale lengths. It doesn't feel like a huge change like going from a 34" scale to a 30" scale, but you play this one all night instead of a 9.5 lb. Jazz bass, and you'll have a lot more energy at the end of the gig to wrestle that SVT back into your vehicle. You might even have enough energy to help the drummer load their kit into their vehicle. (I am so kidding about that.)
The bass body is made from knotty and textured Eastern White Pine and finished in a gorgeous Butterscotch Candy dye. The pickups are an EMG PVHZ in the neck and an EMG Geezer Butler P in the bridge. The P pickups are in a reverse position to give it a more balance tone across all four strings. Each volume knob is a push/pull, series/parallel switch giving you lots of tonal options. With both pickups in series, this thing is a beast. With both in parallel you get more of Jazz bass type of tone. With the neck in series and the bridge in parallel, it will sound like one of the best PJ basses you've heard. With the neck in parallel and bridge in series you get my favorite tone. The aggressive midrange of the Geezer Butler pokes through the more scooped midrange of the neck pickup, which now sounds like it has more highs and lows. All of a sudden the bass just sounds wider in the mix.
The 21 fret Hades roasted maple neck with rosewood fretboard is reinforced with carbon fiber rods. The nut width is a Jazz bass sized 1.5", and the finish is a satin oil/poly blend. The neck gets sanded to 600 grit, while we bullet nose the fret ends and polish them to a smooth 12,000 grit. All of which makes it a real joy to play.
A set of DR Dragon Skin coated round wound strings runs between a Gotoh vintage-style, solid brass bridge over a Tone Ninja nut to a set of Gotoh Res-O-Lite tuners.
The bass weighs in at a respectable 7.8 lbs, that balances perfectly on a strap thanks to the lightweight Gotoh Res-O-Lite tuners (and also because it's a medium-scale, in case you missed that earlier).
The bass comes with a 20mm padded Gator 4G gig bag.
