This Valley Audio 460 XGate/NR  is in over all fair/poor condition and working order. Only one of the two channels functions properly. Channel one functions as it should. Channel two's knobs and switches work properly, but there is a significant lower output level in both the 1/4 out and the XLR out of channel two as compared to channel one's outputs. In addition the XLR out of channel two has a hum (the 1/4 out does not hum) The unit does have some marks and scratches consistent with vintage gear. a single rack unit dual channel expander - noise gate which also features the separate facility of single - ended noise reduction.

The controls comprise a Filtering section containing 12dB /8ve sweep high-pass and low-pass filters with overlapping ranges allowing specific parts of the frequency spectrum of the incoming signal to be emphasized for more selective expansion or gating effects.

An IN/OUT switch allows the filters to be preset and switched in or out of the signal path.

The Expander/Gate section houses a switch for INTernal or KEY control for triggering the detection circuits, Threshold, SLOPE/RATIO, RANGE (depth of attenuation), ATTACK, RELEASE and HOLD controls. The section is completed by a BYPASS- LISTEN switch.

The Noise Reduction section features a THRESHOLD control combined with an IN/OUT switch.

The two channels can be linked together for processing stereo signals via a LINK push button. This feature works, but the outputs of channel one and channel two on are not equal - see above explanation.
