Amazing Vintage 1982 Washburn HB-35 with OHSC. Made in
Japan
by Yamaki (famous for Daion guitars) during the golden age of Japanese guitar
making of the early 80s.
Washburn introduced the HB-35s as its answer to
the Gibson 335 style guitars in 1981 and this particular guitar was
manufactured in the second year of the HB-35 history. The quality of this
guitar is much better than the current Washburn HB-35s which are
made in China.
This guitar is a professional level instrument which compares well vs. 335-style guitars of the era, Gibson, Yamaha, Ibanez etc.
This 1982 HB-35 is in excellent condition, close to mint and shows very very little playing wear at all. There are no significant dings or scratches, is shiny and clear. The clear coat which Yamaki used back then is very
deep and shiny.
It does not appear to have been played much in its lifetime, however
the action is low and fast and the neck is true and sweet.
It
would be difficult to find any 35 year old guitar in this condition, let alone
one which was so well-crafted.
This guitar features a rare string-through brass-saddled
"Harmonic Lock" bridge which was a feature on the Washburn HB-35s from
1981-84 only. It also features push-pull coil splitting knobs, which allow the
Humbucker pickups to be used in single-coil mode when pulled up. The
factory stickers are still on the knobs (see photos). The action is low
and very playable. Frets show little to no wear on
them. The original case is included with this auction. The case is
a little beat up and is missing the handle, but it is very solid and functions
well. The original setup and warranty tags are even included. Serious bidders only please.
No
international bids please. Since this is a used guitar, there is no warranty
provided. Guitar will be well-packed and shipped via UPS Ground with signature
required and Reverb.com "protection" fee added. I know this model well, so please message me with any
questions. Happy bidding.
