This is truly a unique and extremely rare limited-production guitar made in the late 1980s by Asturias, primarily for virtuoso Jazz and Classical guitarist Jeff Linsky. To my knowledge, only a few of these custom guitars were ever produced in the late 1980s until about 1990, and there are currently none to be found for sale commercially in the US. This guitar is in very good condition considering it is 30+ years old. Save a couple of barely-visible swirls and tiny nicks from light use, there are no deep scratches, cracks, or breaks of any type anywhere on the body of guitar. Please note - the exception is the little battery cover made of black plastic, which was cracked by a careless musician. It was repaired, and in no way affects the tone or playability of the instrument. This is a big reason for the discount.
Adding to the uniqueness of the instrument, there is slight finish blush at the cutaway area, and a very faint hint of it as well at the back that is barely visible which seems more to complement and actually blend onto the wood grain. None of this affects playability, tone, or structural integrity, and to be honest, rather gives the guitar a bit of patina-like age worthy character.
Wood top seems to be Cedar or Spruce, with Rosewood back and sides (there is no information on the current Asturias site for this model, and similar models are described as either Cedar or Spruce tops). What seems like an RMS piezo pickup offers treble, mid, and base adjustment settings providing versatility in any venue - it works, but may need some tweaking).
This is an Alto guitar (Requinto) that sounds and plays beautifully whether you're playing Jazz or Classical. I'm told a Requinto is usually tuned a fourth higher than a standard guitar; typically ADGCEA, although really can be tuned based on preference, and typically has slightly higher action than standard guitars. It is a 3/4-size guitar, making it ideal for players seeking a compact and versatile instrument. The attached video gives an excellent sample of the sound and tonal range of this model. Original hard case is also included.
19 frets to the body
21.25” scale (approx)
