Early-Mid 90's Valley Arts Custom Pro electric guitar. Serial number VA02265.
Black on black on black - super cool.
7/8th scale Ash body, Maple neck and Rosewood fret-board. Valley Arts signed tuners and stop-tail bridge.
Previous owner installed foil shielding in the electronics cavity, but other then that it looks all original. I know it's hard to see in photos but the serial number is actually viewable on the back of head-stock. Part of it is covered with black finish but you can definitely make out a body-matching serial when looking at the right angle in the light.
In great condition. A couple of micro-scrapes and dings here and there but have to look hard to find them. Very clean for a 25+ year old guitar - an easy 8/10.
I would classify this as a 'transitional' Custom Pro. Even though Samick had taken over VA by this time, the guitar was still built in the USA, probably by former VA luthiers using original parts. The serial number (matching on neck and body) puts it alongside 92 models in the VA registry, so it's likely the parts were built in the early 90's, but for some reason the guitar was assembled later.
All said, a cracking guitar. Plays and sounds great. Having a 7/8th scale body, it is very light and comfortable to play.
