Vintage semi-acoustic from US manufacturer Gretsch in the classic "Western Orange Stain" finish. Signature model of the American guitar legend Chet Atkins.

Gretsch signed the busy musician back in 1954 - a stroke of luck for the traditional New York company. Similar to the Les Paul at Gibson, Atkins was not only the namesake. He also had a major influence on the design details in the development of these instruments, resulting in a number of country and rock 'n' roll guitar icons.

One such classic is this Nashville model from 1966, which has an eventful history behind it: When the previous owner acquired it in the late 1990s, the guitar had already been previously altered with non-original parts (pickups, tailpiece...). The new owner later had it completely restored by the renowned Munich luthier André Waldenmaier to its current original condition and then had it appraised by an editor of the magazine "Gitarre & Bass". An (anonymized) copy of the mail correspondence at the time, two "before/after" pictures and two issues of the magazine in which this guitar is mentioned are enclosed.

Laminated maple body with "Fake F-Holes" and the characteristic "chair cushion" as protection against damage on the back.

Medium-thick maple neck with ebony fingerboard 22 medium frets (plus zero fret), the characteristic thumbnail inlays and "open gear tuners".

Equipped with two Gretsch "Filter'Tron" humbucker pickups and the typical Gretsch sound management including mechanical mute and on/off switch.

Of course, the unavoidable Bigsby tremolo is also on board.

A wonderful sounding and top playable instrument for traditional and down-to-earth music styles from rock'n'roll to country and blues.

Comes in the old shaped case pictured (one clasp is broken) including accessories as described.

Weight: 3.6 kg.

Clean and collectible condition with minor signs of use due to age - see pictures. The freshly polished frets have no recognizable signs of use.
