About This Listing

This rare and unusual Epiphone Scroll SC-550 guitar is very well made and was produced in Japan from 1976- 79. It is in excellent condition with very little wear and only a couple minor scuffs and scratches. It features a really cool 24 fret neck which is awesome to get that extra octave and coil splitter to allow for single coil or humbucker sound. The 550 was the top of the line model that featured square inlays and gold colored hardware as opposed to chrome.
It has a set in neck with distinctive scroll and a German carve around the body. Scale length is 25.5 inches, and the fingerboard width is 1-11/14 inches at the nut. The 24 fret neck joins the body at the 21st fret. Comes with a wicked coffin case to makes things even more interesting when you arrive at your gig. If you are looking for a guitar that stands out from the crowd with some unique features this is it!

Product Overview
The SC-550 Scroll was the top of the Scroll series of guitars Epiphone made in the late '70s. The SC-350 was an entry level model, while the SC-450 fell somewhere in between. The SC-550 featured an ebony fretboard with block inlays, brass nut, and came with either covered Epiphone humbuckers or open coil Gibson humbuckers (indicated by a G suffix in the model code). The SC-550, like other guitars in the Scroll line, came with either a stop bar/Tune-O-Matic bridge system, or a Leo Quann wraparound bridge.
