Ok, Folks! Want to see something "true"? - here it is!

МП42Б is a germanium FF pedal that not only sounds just right but also has some cool tricks in it.
It is based on two NOS soviet germanium transistors МП42Б (that was produced even before I was born) and a NOS К40У9 PIO (paper in oil) output capacitor, so it definitely has the right vibe in it :)

And if you want some electronic nerdiness, then here you are - МП42Б are germaniums with PNP structure and it is almost ancient technology now :D. The first FF pedals were PNP by the way, but now, in the modern world, most of the transistors are NPN silicons, and lots of people state that PNP germaniums sound best. Not sure that "best" is the correct word, but who am I to judge them? :) but what I know for sure, is that PNP FF needs a negative power supply, so usually, it means that you will need a dedicated -9v PSU and that you can't daisy-chain that pedal with others. But not with that one :) I built-in negative voltage converter so you will be able to grab your standard boss-style PSU and play.

And now about the 2 unusual knobs (but volume)
One of them is a Bias and the other is a Pre-Gain.
I added bias 'cuz of 2 reasons - germaniums are temperature sensitive and sound can vary depending on how warm the room so it's useful to be able to fine-tune it sometimes. But also you can get really cool mis-biased broken gated farty sounds out of it so why not? :D
And the Pre-Gain. It works just like a volume knob on your guitar and I would say that it is the main thing with any FF pedal. It lets you get much more from that type of FX 'cuz actually, it can sound kind of treble boost-ery, like an overdrive, or of course like a fat germanium FF.

Also you probably already noticed that the pedal doesn't have a standard Gain knob. Basically, it's cuz I think that it's almost useless. IMHO pre-gain knob works way better and gives you way more tonal diversity.

Bias (БИАС) - the "right" point is around 12 O'Clock. Set lower it gets gated and a bit farty (in a good way of course), Higher it becomes more compressed
