In September 1983 Tim Butler of the Psychedelic Furs signed on as an endorsee for Zon Guitars. Tim Butler’s 1984 Zon Legacy Bass was used extensively for the entire '87/'88 'Midnight to Midnight' era of the Psychedelic Furs career which was their most successful era.
In 2014 the bass was completely restored by Zon, the original manufacturer, who announced on their Facebook site that it was “Well worn and well played, here is Tim Butler's "Plane & Stars" bass. Custom built for Tim in 1984 (yes, almost 30 years ago!), it was used on The Psychedelic Furs "Mirror Moves" tour... and well beyond. The bass is now back home at Zon Guitars undergoing restoration.”
In 2019 the bass has been set up, checked and tested including all electronics by Matt Brewster at 30th Street Guitars, NYC. It plays perfectly, sounds amazing and has had minor studio use since 2018.
It was professionally appraised in 2019 for insurance purposes with a replacement value of $20000.
