Greg Germino’s take on the late 1960s Marshall straight 4x12 basketweave cabinet, loaded with 3 June 1968 Pulsonic T1221 and 1 November 1969 Pulsonic T1221 Celestion G12M 75hz Greenback lead cone speakers with the original wire harness that we’ve had here at the magazine for a long while, and written about many times.  It's celebrated in the November 2023 Ryan Wariner issue. There’s a reason that these are amongst the most sought after speakers, and these sound unreal. I don’t have the backstory on how the original 4th speaker came to be replaced by a November 1969, it’s just how it was when I got it.

I’ve owned this particular cab for 14 years and bought it from one of Greg Germino’s clients. If you are familiar with Greg’s work, you know that for him these old Pulsonic coned G12Ms (codes are 102 003) are the end game in 100 watt and 50 watt Marshall circuits and always what he recommends to complement his amps if you can find them.

These speakers have zero coil rub or issues of any kind. They’re clear, warm, detailed with that creamy and touch responsive Greenback breakup. The cabinet has lived in the “jam room” which has been kept at 45% relative humidity. The glue and spiders are in excellent shape as you can see in the photos. You’ll see too that one of the magnet covers is gone and there is some solder on the back of the Nov 1969 cone towards the outside, however it's a superficial blemish with no effect to the cone that I can only imagine happened during the replacement.

Photos Note: Speaker 2 is the November '69

Many of them you see for sale have some sort of strange story or recones. Not these. They’re heartbreakingly magical. You can spend the rest of your life swapping speakers, spending thousands, and always wondering if any current formulas come close to Pulsonic cones, or simply grab this cabinet and game over. 50% of the sound coming from your amp is directly influenced by the speakers.

This cab nails every legendary recording, especially late 60s and 70s rock and roll. No harshness, just gorgeous, rich, heady, pure, wide-glide gushing tones for miles. Oh, the MIDS are beyond stellar, dreamy. We have to keep gear rolling here at the magazine, and we love when others can experience these classics. It’s time to move on, but we’ll never forget these speakers, so good.

Will ship to the lower 48 only, fully insured with signature required to protect your investment. It’s a long way to the top, if you wanna rock & roll, but with these speakers in this cabinet, you are there, Enjoy~
