About This Listing

This sharp looking guitar plays like a dream with an unbelievable variety of tones and many other very desirable features. My research indicates its manufacturing date is circa 1980-Sep, production number 215 of that year. However the model was not released until 1981 according to other info I dragged up.

The body is mahogany with a maple center and walnut stripes for bling. The 3 piece mahogany set neck is really comfortable. The overall guitar is reasonably light and comfortable. These Vantage 450 pickups ROCK! They roll off great cleans and crunch on demand. In addition to the typical bridge/neck pickup selector switch, there is a split coil switch and a phase switch for a gazillion different sounds. The guitar has a brass nut that I think adds to the solid sustain of the instrument.

I owned this guitar 20 years ago and made a couple hundred recording with it as one of my two main guitars. It is a great guitar that I regretted letting go of. I found it again this past year and bought it out with my heart and not my head. I just have too many guitars.

See images for details but there is a slight indent on the neck that I never feel. There is some slight buckle rash lightly visible and a few other minor bumps that come with being 44 year old. It came set up with 8's. I stepped it up to 9's, but with the 24.5" scale neck it really needs to go up to 10's. I will include a set of strings for that.

There is also some fret wear, considering the age, but still plays without any fret buzz or noise. All of the electronics work perfectly. Incidentally, I am using the images of the guitar when I bought it a few months ago. I will try to capture some new ones but honestly the guitar has not changed in 3-4 month's time.

It does come with a hard shell GATOR case to protect it.

This guitar was overbuilt for the price range it sold at during the time of manufacture.

I am already grieving and having second thoughts about letting this go.
