About This Listing

The 1966 Epiphone Cortez acoustic guitar, crafted by Gibson in Kalamazoo, is a vintage treasure with a beautiful cherry sunburst finish. Despite its age, this guitar has maintained a straight neck and has been professionally set up and restrung, resulting in low action and a sweet sound that still holds songs within its body. While the truss rod cover is missing, the original tuners and minimal fretwear ensure excellent playability and intonation. The neck angle remains correct and has never been removed, and the intact bridge provides great contact with the body, showcasing the guitar's structural integrity. Although there are spots where the original finish has been sanded back, adding character to its appearance, this Cortez boasts an exceptional sound that we didn't want to risk altering by repairing a stable top crack. The crack looks worse than it is, and this guitar sounds monstrous! Displaying expected signs of wear from its extensive use, including gashes, dings, and scrapes, this guitar's tonal quality remains outstanding. Sold without a case, this Cortez is a prized possession for players and collectors alike, offering a unique blend of history, character, and musicality, with all sorts of authentic vintage vibe. It is in player's grade condition and priced to reflect this.
