A Word About Shipping

Yes, the substantial cost of shipping the cabinet and the unit itself is included for free in this listing. The MC2205 source unit alone without the cabinet weighs 96 lb. It will be packed with care in the OEM shipping carton from McIntosh according to their instructions. The original walnut cabinet will be also shipped free in a separate box from the source unit itself, so you will receive two boxes. This adds considerable packing labor and cost, but it it the best way to ensure the safety of these irreplaceable pieces of vintage audio gear.

Notes

  • The original walnut cabinet is in good shape, except for a significant ding on the front left. Functionality is unaffected. (See photos.)
  • There is some light oxidation on the chassis that was not able to be completely removed during restoration. This is minimal, visible in the photos, and does affect functionality. (See photos.)
  • At some point in this unit's past, it was dropped and the front of the chassis was bent. The unit's function is unaffected and it is very hard to tell without taking the unit apart and inspecting, but I'm putting it in here in the interest of full disclosure. (See photos.)
  • Slight amount of opamp leakage noted in right channel, however outputs are working normally. Since the LM301 op amps in this unit are matched and they affect the vintage sound characteristics, replacement was not recommended. This could be done with relative ease at any time.

The only thing for sale in this listing is the MC2205 with its box, old caps, and manuals. Any other items appearing in the photos may or may not also be for sale. Check my profile for other listings.

Please refer to the photos for a detailed look at the item. They are pictures of the exact item you will receive. This unit looks and performs beautifully and I have done my best to describe it and take photos accurately representing its condition. That being said, due to the age of this device and the uncertain nature of vintage electronics (even restored and serviced). This unit is being sold as pictured/described.
