Historic vintage Robert De Lacy silver cornet. Instrument is in non-working condition, sold for parts/repair. De Lacy or Delacy was a bandmaster, professor of music, and instrument maker in 19th-century Britain. His instruments are marked with his name and place of business address by which they can be dated. This cornet is marked 84 Holland Road, Brixton, London, which indicates it was made from 1880 to 1908.
The cornet’s body is in beautiful condition with a near flawless silver finish. Cornet is missing the water keys; one of the top valve caps and all finger buttons; one out of the three bottom caps, and the main tuning slide. Repairs to tubing needed (see photos). The first and third valves have severe internal damage; the second valve appears to be OK (see photos for details). Cleaned and polished.
