About This Listing

For sale is a 2007 National Resophonic 14 fret nickel plated brass body single cone resonator guitar like the one featured on the cover of Dire Straits “Brothers in Arms”. Mark Knopfler played the same model, brass, with the exact same Hawaiian motif design that has the two lovers in the boat on the back.

Never gigged and purchased from original owner, a collector. Original warranty card and National Resophonic instructions for care included. I was unhappy with the condition of the original case so I purchased a new one from National ResoPhonic ($300).

No dents, original cone, biscuit style bridge. Frets in great condition. Neck is straight and damn near impossible to break. Action at the 12th fret (pictured) is great. Truss rod adjustment at headstock.

New National brass Style O resonators sell for $5000, so I think whoever buys gets a damn good deal on an iconic “Americana” guitar.

Only cosmetic wear should be called attention to are two mild scuffs on finish pictured on back of left upper bout and one in the front (see last two pictures). Hardly noticeable under most light and a player shouldn’t care. Standard light wear should be clear in the pictures. I polished and buffed the nickel silver (per recommendation from a lady at National Guitar) with Music Nomad Brazilian White Carnauba Wax and it really helps with the finger prints. The wax is not permanent so if you want it to fog up and look rustic, just play it and do not apply any more wax and wipe it down as you play it. It is superficial and comes right off.

Strung with resonator 16 gauge strings tuned to open G for slide. Well cared for and stored in case in a room with a large humidifier running during the cold months and hygrometer on the wall to monitor (I have six other guitars).

I initially bought it to try and learn to play traditional slide blues, but I can’t play fingerstyle to save my life and honestly never play it. I would rather it be played and gigged than sit in a case.

This ships in a National Resophonic box. Also included is a set of new National ResoPhonic Engraved 1930s Style Open Gear Tuners (2 x 3 in-line), a set of National Finger Picks, Thumb Picks, 3 sets of Daddarrio Resonator gauge coated strings and National Resophonic cloth.

NOTE: My reflection is caught in a couple of the photos, specifically the one on the guitar stand in front of the case.

I have a “No Return” policy to avoid the hassle someone hasn’t done their homework and doesn’t like the neck profile, scale length, etc., but given the price, if this instrument is not satisfactory within 24 hours upon receipt, I can arrange a return. I am happy to discuss over the phone.

Nobody has been disappointed with my sold items.

Check my 100 percent positive feedback from previous buyers on Reverb as well as my other instrument sales on eBay (seller blaine101675 > Feedback > View All Feedback > Filter at top right > As Seller). I am an honest player who occasionally sells to fund other creative ventures. I do not buy and flip for profit. Price firm.
