This is a clone of a Bad Cat Hot Cat 30, which itself is modern variation of a Matchless HC30, only with TONS more gain and bite. This amp has 3 12AX7 preamp tubes, 2 KT77 Power amp tubes, and a GT-5AR4 rectifier tube. There are some cracks in the acrylic faceplate, but this is purely cosmetic. This amp is in perfect working order and was serviced just a few months ago. Selling because I use my Helix primarily for gigging and rehearsal now, this amp just isn't being used anymore.

Firstly, theres no way this thing is only 30W. Seriously, this thing is LOUD. Keeps up with a loud drummer easily and hangs with my 50W PRS Archon. It has a Hi/Lo switch in the back that halves wattage down, but it takes away some of the girth of the sound, so just leave it on Hi and use the master volume, it's a great one.

Gain channel is the star of this amp for me. This amp ROARS and has more gain than you'll ever need for any genre, Djent and Metal included. The"Edge" and "Level" controls interact with the Gain channel only, and when paired with the "Brilliance" (presence) control, this gets super tight and modern. Lower the "Edge" and it loosens up the low end. Speaking of, this amp has TONS of low end. Super thick, full sound that fills up the room and you feel in your chest. These KT77 tubes suit this amp perfectly.

The clean channel is SUPER clean and jangly, true to it's Vox AC30 roots. You'll get some creamy power amp saturation as you max the volume, but it's not beat used here IMO. I instead use the Gain channel and adjust the input from guitars volume knob if I want a dynamic edge of breakup sound. Raise volume more and until the gain is as thick as I want it. Easy peasy.

This amp doesn't have an FX loop, but you can jump the channels with an A+B switcher and have your modulation and time effects in the clean channel with the Mix turned upbto do the same thing.
