About This Listing

This guitar is a joy to play! An early 50s ladder braced Gibson with that pure vintage woody tone. Great for fingerpicking blues, folk, etc, and sounds just as great strumming. Mahogany back and sides, rosewood fret board, original tuners work great. has a replacement rosewood bridge. Has had a professional neck reset done by Urban Eisen of { Collings Guitars - Dick Dubois } in 2022. If you know these early 50s LG -1s, you know they are the better made ones. Ive played this one up against a 50s LG -2 which are known to be louder and this guy holds his own. Of course a guitar 72 years old usually has its share of cracks and dings and this one is no exception. There are several properly cleated cracks on the top that are solid and the back seam has been cleated as well. I've owned this guitar for 20 years now and I assure you its never been a problem, its a great little solid guitar. Plays, feels, and sounds great ! Comes with HSC.

Product Overview
During World War II, Gibson pared its flat-tops down to six standard models, the Gibson LG-1 acoustic guitar among them. As a student model, the LG-1 was introduced alongside the LG-2 and LG-3 to be a less expensive model that even younger players could afford. Because it was initially intended to be a lower-end guitar, the LG-1 uses ladder-style bracing and is made of a mahogany back with a spruce top.
