Freshly inspected and set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech, who tells us that this venerable KHG-14, while structurally stable for the most part, does have a number of issues and repairs which we want to call out.

This guitar was converted from its original "Hawaiian" design, with tall nut and elevated strings, to a standard playing instrument.  This is actually quite common and many of these guitars made during the Hawaiian music craze of the '30s were later converted to standard play.

Part of the conversion is a neck reset which this guitar has had, along with a large shim under the fretboard extension and similar Maple reinforcement under the top.  There are cracks in the top which have been glued but not cleated.  The bridgeplate is loose and a Bridge Doctor truss has been installed for support.  The nut and fingerboard retain their original wider width which is normal on these conversions.

An L.R. Baggs Anthem internal pickup system has been installed, and given the bridgeplate issues, the internal microphone was mounted to the underside of the top rather than the bridgeplate but still functions as intended.

Please feel free to call us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have.  Our Guitar Tech is in the Shop Tuesday through Saturday if you want to speak to him directly.

This guitar is a real survivor and if you have a soft spot in your heart for vintage guitars that have seen hard times but are still alive and kicking, this may be the guitar for you.  It has a lot of stories to tell and you could be the one to bring them to life.  See below for more details and specifications.

NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:

We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage guitars as accurately as possible in our listings.  Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so.  We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument.  Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.

We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear.  If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have.  Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
