Marathon Replay Series ST-style guitar ~1989

Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Super nice “Marathon” badged ST-style guitar. Marathon was a musical instruments brand of German distributor Musik Meinl (also known as the German distributor of Ibanez). It was established in the late 1980s, and the guitars were produced by Samick in Korea. This guitar is likely from the late 1980s or early 1990s.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  648 mm

-Nut: ca 41,5 mm

-Weight: 3,44 kg

-Pickups: three original singlecoils, measuring at 5,33k (Bridge), 5,05k (Middle), 5,17k (Neck), standard ST-style controls with 5 way switch.  

-Body: solid wood, probably alder

-Neck: slim C shaped neck, maple with rosewood fingerboard. My guess is that this is a 9,5 inch radius, medium frets.

Condition:

-Body: Minor traces of use only.

-Neck: neck is straight, frets are in good condition (9/10), there is no buzz. Trussord works

-Hardware: in good shape; small fissure on the plastic backplate edge.

-Electrics: everything works as it should

-Originality: all original

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: The playability is excellent, with a low string action, now set at 1,5mm at the 12th fret.

-Sound: The pickups have a nice sparkly output, neither thin nor muddy. Please have a listen to the video for sound samples.  

Repairs, Service:

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Completely cleaned

-Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-New set of Pyramid 10 gauge nickel strings put on

-Ready to be played (just tune it up);

Auxiliary stuff:

-No case or gigbag included. The guitar will be wrapped well, and put into a sturdy cardboard box with lots of filler material. If you wish I can buy a fitting case at your costs.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
