This Kay Vanguard III is a cool vintage guitar with retro styling. It sports a trio of single coil pickups, each with their own volume and tone controls. It is well worn with a great relic'y look (finish flaked off in pattern as shown) and has some issues, so please see our inspection notes below.
- The bridge pickup is not functional and likely has a broken winding as no resistance was measured with a meter.
- The end of the fretboard ramps up at the body joint, causing the strings to fret out around the 12th fret, even with high action. A re-fret with some possible fretboard planing is recommended to improve playability.
- The truss rod is fully functional.
- The bridge is unoriginal and the tremolo arm is missing.
