The actual description starts after the shipping info. And I'm starting the info here with a TIP about how to TAKE OFF / PUT ON the Battery Cover. This type of DOD battery cover is notorious for the tab breaking. Right now the tab is fine:

  • NOTE / TIP : I highly recommend that you take the bottom plate off when you want to take off the battery cover. It's tricky to take off. And when you put the battery cover back on - with the bottom plate off or with the bottom plate not all the way screwed down - do the following: put on - or have the bottom plate on - but not screwed all the way down. And then place the battey cover on and then tighten the screws for the bottom plate.

NOTE: International customers please contact me first to find out if there are any shipping / delivery suspensions for your country.

At this time - all mail services to RUSSIA are not available.

Up for grabs is a used naturally reliced from player's wear vintage DOD FX35 Octoplus Octave effect pedal for guitar or bass. ANALOG. From the mid to late 1980s, USA.

  • The FX35 creates a note one octave below the note played into it. Sounding like a guitar and bass guitar player together. It lets you play single note bass lines with a guitar or get more punch, more body in the low end from your guitar by combining the guitar note with the created lower note.
  • The DOD FX35 Octoplus pedal creates a tone one octave below the signal input and it works super on both guitar and bass. The Octoplus was made from 1986 to 1994 and this FX 35 is from the original run of this pedal in 1986.

Comes with a 9v battery. I'm going to include an extra battery clip (in case the orignal one breaks or gets damaged. The original battery clip has an unusual design -- SEE close up pictures # 9 and # 10). Also --

*** I am including one new set of D'Addario EXL-110 light (gauge 10) electric guitar strings. Please let me know if you prefer D'Addario EXL-120 super light (gauge 9) strings instead of the gauge 10 strings ***

The selling price will be $2 less if you do not need the battery and $3 less if you do not need the strings. Please make an offer with a message stating that you do not need any of these items. You can also message me if you prefer that these details be edited in listing.

Sorry NO box / NO paperwork / MO adaptor.

NOTE: in a different REVERB listing - I have this same exact pedal paired with Truetone adaptor + Truetone C35 converter (when this adapter is used with the C35 converter it is the correct adaptor to use with the pedal. It also has the battery, strings, and extra battery clip. Here's the link for that listing:

This pedal was tested and it works fine.

It has the battery cover -- yey!!

NO longer made. Great for collectors and / or for someone looking to buy this pedal to use.  Also great to give to someone as a gift!!

All original.

Going by REVERB's condition criteria - ths pedal is in GOOD shape. Even though the exterior of the CASING has a lot of cosmetic player's wear & some aging - the pedal works fine. And the inside is very clean, the outer areas of the bottom plate & rubber piece are mostly fine, the bottom label is mostly fine, and the knobs are mostly fine.

  • But going by a regular observation rating - the pedal is in FAIR cosmetic shape.

The Octoplus features a nice-range of octave sounds that fattens up the player's tone. The Octave level allows you to adjust the amount of generated lower octave signal to the output. The Tone control boosts the bass or treble of the octave signal. Clockwise boosts the upper frequencies and counter-clockwise boosts the lower frequencies. The Direct level adjusts the level of the input signal allowed to pass through the output.

When used with guitar, the sound is similar to a guitar and a bass playing at the same time. The pedal adds a lot of punch to single picked bass lines. The Octoplus only features one octave, but this pedal does one octave very well.

NOTE:

The blue color looks brighter in pictures # 2, # 15, and # 16 because of the lighting. Most of the pictures were taken in a certin light (mostly with the camera's flash off -- to better show the imperfections.

the controls are:

Octave Level controls the volume of a tone one octave below the input signal

Tone controls the tone (bass/treble)

Direct level controls the volume of the uneffected input signal

The valuse of the three pots are the same type / same values (see picture # 11)

  • E.C.I. Alpha   W100K

the jacks are: IN, OUT, and power

  • NOTE: the power jack is for an adapter with an 1/8" (3.5mm) plug end, positive tip/center, and negative ground.  The “tip” is positive, meaning it carries the audio signal. The “sleeve” is typically negative or ground, serving as a return path for the audio signal and reducing electrical interference.
  • The label on the bottom of the pedal says: "For AC Operation. 10 a volt DC negative ground supply." So the center is positive.
  • Even though it says 10 volt -- you can uese a 9 volt adapter.
  • Adapter NOT included.
  • So if you use a Boss type of adapter with barrel end or a Trutone adapter with barrel end -- you can add a converter like this one: Truetone 1 SPOT 3.5MM converter to your adapter.
  • I have a new open package Truetone 1 SPOT C35 3.5mm converter available for sale -- which you can use with your adapter. Please message me for info, pictures, and price.
  • This Truetone link has info about the Truetone 1 SPOT C35 3.5mm converter (in case you are not familiar with this item):
  • store.truetone.com/products/1-spot-3-5mm-converter
  • This in information form the above link: (C35) Allows the 1 SPOT and MC5 cable to power Electro-Harmonix, older DOD, and other pedals that require a positive tip 3.5mm (1/8″) plug.
  • If you need an adapter - I do have a used Truetone 1 Spot and other brand adapters (available for sale) that will work with this pedal with the Truetone 1 SPOT C3C35 3.5mm converter added to it. Please message me for info, pictures, and price.

Effect Information

“The DOD FX35 Octoplus debuted in mid-1986. Its original circuit appears to be at least loosely based on the original Boss OC-2 Octaver schematic, with a flip-flop IC as an octave divider and four op amps in addition to the components used for the clickless FET foot switch. Unlike the Boss OC-2, the FX35 features a tone control (boosts bass or treble of the octave signal only), and only one sub-octave note is created. Like all octave dividers, the FX35 cannot track chords very well (although root-fifth power chords can sound okay, at least until one note starts to warble out), but tracking can be enhanced by using your neck pickup and/or adding a boost or compression pedal before the FX35. The FX35 was discontinued by late 1994.”

I took pictures of all sides of the pedal.  There are a few pics of areas of interest and there are some pics of the inside of the pedal. And the first picture shows what it comes with.  Please message me (or make an offer) if you only want to buy the pedal or if you would like to buy the pedal with certain items presented in this listing.

Feel free to ask for more pictures.

NOTE:   There may be some imperfections that I overlooked.   There are some imperfections that can be seen in person that do not appear in the pictures.  Also  - some imperfections show up in the pictures that are not that visible in person.
