About This Listing

2016 Echopark Explorer "1 of 3"

Was used on stage w/ Jane's Addiction by Troy Van Leeuwen. Everyone flipped out over the tone of this guitar during sound check. i know exactly why having playing this guitar a bunch. it's has incredibly fast and powerful attack. it's a very high output guitar. not high output pickups, naturally high output. the opposite of mush or squish or laid back. It behaves in a way that could only be described as holy grail, very few guitars possess this combination of oozing ancient-wood tone with sharp fast attack and bite. the harmonics and overtones with this guitar are as good as it gets. very few guitars will have what i call a very fast attack, which is properties of very high end tone wood. the 65 mosrite slab has it, the echopark lil red guitar has it. this guitar has it.

This Explorer, compared to the last one, is more of a modern weapon - less sag, less squish, more attack, more snap, more bite, more output than the vintage style old man guitar. This is a modern high performance hot rod. This is, comparatively speaking to most old wood Korina guitars which are prone to squish, a modern performance guitar. Literally any style of music can by played. The same can't be said for many super squishy soft Korina guitars, which are best suited for blues and leads. This guitar will blow away a $10-15K modern Murphy lab Les Paul. Not a fair comparison by any stretch. Not for a second!

Powerful snappy old slab of Korina, not to be confused with Gibson's cheap modern wood, or their super cheap cost cutting 2 pieces dirt cheap mass produced minimum wage "Korina" bodies. call Gibson wood is what we refer to as a minimum wage wood. it's mass produced in enormous wholesale quantities, it's worthless and it's garbage. The wood Gibson uses in $20-30k modern guitars is not desirable by high-end modern boutique luthiers. Cheap korina, low grade korina is used by Reverend Guitars, and Gibson, and countless others. and it's still good, but it's not this. It's like ordering wedding catering from McDonalds. No thanks, I'll take the real thing.

Very powerful guitar. No mush. Zero mud. Laser precision. Smaller neck than the typical huge late 50's neck. These flattops remind me of 70's Ferrari.

Last one! Only 3 authentic '58 naturals were made. Now "discontinued forever". My last explorer sold for 13k, this one is more special to me. Your fingers will dance around the fretboard. (also currently have his #1 V for sale). This one comes at a premium, i have little to no interest in letting this go. This is an heirloom quality guitar.

has the highly limited, cutting & musical Echopark spec Brandonwound PAF's. i guess that's why he got hired by Gibson. these are the best modern PAF's i've ever heard. i like these over the Arcanes.

has a new nut and electronics, and is in perfect condition.

All Echopark guitars typically have some lacquer checking and tiny lacquer inconsistencies that hopefully will only increase in time, the more the better. This guitar has great lacquer checking. There are no build imperfections, the guitar is perfect. This guitar has much more lacquer than the other one that just sold. Many more layers of nitro going on here. Also a proper gloss, opposed to the matte, which i can't seem to stand. I have sold several insanely good top of the line Echoparks because they have matte finishes. This is a proper gloss thick nitro coat. Korina is a softwood, and very fragile, the tradeoff is incredible performance and tone.

This guitar has a new bone nut by one the best top rare-acoustic luthiers in the US, and new electronics, pots and switches. The stock nut was never glued in, and the nut slot was not what we call perfect. Now it is. Better than new. This luthier has a year wait list for any service, and his average service guitar is a $100K old acoustic. Sale includes the original Echopark COA as well as the Echopark cardboard build sheet, which is rare. This is one of the early Korina guitars from Echopark. 1 of 3.

This good old wood is simply unmistakable. The wood used to build these guitars is top of the line, the best that exists on earth. These guitars ring forever. Old growth Korina from 200 years ago is one of the most impossible things to find for sale as a huge slab, especially wood that's been properly dried for decades naturally with no kilns or acceleration, which is a very big no no. Huge slabs are required to build these guitars, and that's why nothing sounds like a Korina slab, especially in the higher registers. The notes pop & fly off the fretboard. Just listen to the GnR Knockin on Heaven's Door solos. That is exactly what this thing sounds like.

You won't see more of these, they're either snagged up or went to Japan. There were only 3 natural Echopark Explorers made available to the public. The 4th is painted. The Echopark korina guitars are criminally undervalued. Should be twice the price if not more. I should probably pull this listing, this guitar is irreplaceable.

There's very few Echopark collectors left, and the truly exceptional guitars are never put on sale. This is a '58 spec Explorer Case Study "discontinued forever". I had a '58 Les Paul Junior with this same neck profile, only this one has that incredible reverse taper, where it gets ever so slightly thinner as you move up the neck towards the higher register. Love that.

Prior to shipping all guitars receive a video demo, and filming of the entire packing. Sent fully insured using bulletproof methods. These G&G "Explorer" cases are a joke. So much special care and attention is given when packing the guitar. We go way above and beyond to secure the guitar in the case and provide necessary support under the neck and neck heel, achieving the correct balance, eliminating the pressure and strain which can occur from closing the case. A proper Explorer case should be purchased at some point, or road case. I will never understand why people cheap out on cases, if it were me I'd have roadcases with every single guitar, out of respect for the guitar and the customer. These cases are an absolute joke. It's easy to tell when a manufacturer is ignorant or doesn't show proper respect in the final delivery, whether that's set up, case, small finishing details, electronics, paperwork, or shipping. Like all my guitars, this guitar needs nothing. It has received the royal treatment, receipt for luthier will be includes. Weather and geographics can and will effect set up. As it stands, the guitar's set up is perfection. Straight truss rod, low action, no issues. Level, glued in frets (we did that), all new electronics, new bone nut. No returns, no refunds unless agreed upon. All items sold as is.
