Kazuo Yairi is one of the most prominent luthiers in guitar history, and started building guitars in 1950. His workshop was situated in a beautiful location in Kani, Japan, and Yairi hand-built guitars for Paul McCartney and Carlos Santana, among others.
The guitars under the name K. Yairi were built for the Japanese and European markets, where the counterpart for the North American market was sold under the name Alvarez. The guitar is constructed from laminated maple in a translucent black finish, revealing the flame in the wood. In addition, this twelve-string guitar has a built-in piezo pickup.
This 1992 K. Yairi DY-87-12 has several playwear and dings, but is overall very clean considering its vintage status. The guitar is in very good condition and comes with TFOA passport in a hardshell case.
