Antoine Di Mauro was born in Catania in 1900.

He was the brother of Joseph Di Mauro "senior" (1893-1966), and father of Joseph Di Mauro "junior" (1932-2001).

Before arriving in Paris in 1934, he was already making guitars and mandolins in Catania. Once in Paris, he continued his luthier's activity, setting up his workshop in the back of a furniture store in the 20th arrondissement. A few years later, in 1936, he opened his first workshop in Impasse Rançon. Then, after a move in 1942, he set up shop at 47 Rue de la Réunion in Paris's 20th arrondissement, in his famous workshop bearing the sign: "LUTHERIE MODERNE".

From the outset, Di Mauro guitars met with great success.

Particularly the Selmer Maccaferri jazz guitar models such as the Saint Louis Blues, Boogie-Woogie and Spécial Chorus created by Antoine Di Mauro.

Many famous artists of the time played on a Di Mauro guitar: Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Henri Salvador, Sacha Distel, Jacques Higelin, Pat Metheny and, of course, Django Reinhardt.

Here, the model is a Chorus, dating from the 1950s.

It's THE model designed by Antoine Di Mauro, as indicated. A particularly popular model with musicians.

With its 14 frets, it's the perfect guitar for soloists.

This model shows a beautiful patina on a nice spruce top and mahogany back in superb condition.

Thus in a very good state of preservation with a powerful tone and a timbre typical of gypsy guitars from the 1950's, this guitar will appeal to collectors and musicians alike!
