About This Listing

Here is what I think may be a fairly scarce guitar. This is a Charlie Christian Solo-Flight electric hollow body that was made in Korea by Samick in conjunction with the estate of Charlie Christian and D'Leco guitars. From what I have read these were made for only a few years in the mid 1990's. There were three models- a trapeze tailpiece version, a Bigsby tailpiece version, and the CCTS-650 like this one which features a stop tail. The specs for this model say the top and back are solid maple while the sides are laminated maple. The top and back are nicely carved and the guitar has a fairly substantial center block under the top that gives it a very solid feel (the interior block doesn't go all the way to the back, leaving a slight gap). It has two humbuckers with coil tap functions on the tone knobs. Scale length is 24.75". Overall the guitar is in very nice shape for its age. The finish shows the usual light swirl marks in the clear lacquer like you always see on black guitars. The gold plating on the hardware shows some tarnish and fading. There are no cracks, repairs or damages, just signs of light use. The neck is straight with low action and nice frets. The guitar plays and sounds great. The only issue I can see is the volume control for the bridge pickup needs to be cleaned or replaced. It feels a little crunchy when you turn it, and as soon as you start to turn the volume down with it the signal will cut out. It works just fine when left in the full on '10' setting though. The guitar comes in the nice hardshell case you see in the photos.
