Kawai K3m Analog/Digital (Hybrid?) Synthesizer Module
A really unique and underrated gem from the mid 80's - it definitely bridges the early analog and primitive digital worlds. Brass and pads are very Prophet like and the bells / EP's have that digital bite. It can sound vaguely like a PPG or I guess the best analogy would be the Korg DW-8000 (Although IMO the K3 is much warmer and 'vintage' sounding.)
I went with condition "Good" because everything works, tuning is stable, outputs are clean, LED's are nice and bright. But the buttons range from finicky to stubborn to downright jammed. Could be a simple cleaning or easy repair. Never bothered me because it can be completely remotely MIDI controlled by the totally excellent (and free!) Ctrlr software. The K3 software editor panel is super cool because it also gives you access to actually preview and generate the programmable additive waveform and you know you're gonna wanna do that.
Physically it's not pretty with plenty of surface scuffs and signs of previous neglect. It could use a nice bath.
Local Atlanta 30066 pickup preferred, but domestic lower 48 shipping is also an option. No international purchases please. I'm happy to arrange a video call for serious buyers to show the full functionality (and software editing capabilities as the module is already setup to talk to Ctrlr, and that wasn't easy!) Please note that this is a vintage piece currently in the condition as described and all sales are final.
I've also got a keyboard K3 (with a new membrane!) that might be up for adoption and would make a great deal (to a local buyer) interested in both (a K6?) In fact, I've even got a K5M (with a new screen) if you want to collect them all.
Any questions just give a shout.
Cheers!
