Throughout history, various fuzz pedals have been created. They have created many legends, and there is no shortage of players looking for vintage fuzz tones.

Among them, the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi is a rare fuzz pedal in the world that has enjoyed a brilliant track record and high reputation for decades, and continues to evolve.
Mike Matthews once described the Big Muff circuit as a fuzz that has been passed through a strong filter. One Control Baltic Blue Fuzz is a new era vintage fuzz pedal designed by BJF based on that idea.
The world's first fuzz pedal is said to be the Maestro Fuzz Tone FZ-1, released in 1962. Originally developed in America, the fuzz pedal was refined in 1965 and improved as the FZ-1A.
However, at the same time, the fuzz pedal that would become a legend was born in Britain. Developed by Gary Hurst and named the Tone Bender, the pedal was influenced by the FZ-1's circuitry but was known for its original tone. The first Mk1, then the transitional Mk1.5 in 1966, and then the Mk2. As the fuzz pedal evolved, the popularity of fuzz pedals exploded with clone models, advanced models, and OEM models.
In 1966, along with Tone Bender, the world famous Fuzz Face was also released. This circuit is also known to be very similar to the transitional Tone Bender currently called Mk1.5.
Moreover, the Tone Bender Mk3 was released in 1968, and the Mk4 was released in 1969.
In this way, many variations of the fuzz pedal that started with the FZ-1 were created and matured over several years.
In response to these UK fuzz pedals, a certain fuzz pedal was developed in New York in 1969. The first Big Muff Pi, now called the Triangle, was a fuzz pedal created by Bob Meyer, an engineer at Electro-Harmonix at the time. This model was released until around 1973, when the housing was updated to a model called Ram's Head.
Big Muff Pi is a newly developed fuzz pedal based on research into the fuzz effect, which was originally developed in America and then matured in the UK. We believe that this is the origin of the fuzz sound that today's guitarists are looking for.

The Baltic Blue Fuzz circuit is not a clone of the Big Muff. However, the topology is common.
One of the Big Muff tones that modern guitarists are particularly looking for is a tone around the triangle ram's head. Although there are differences when comparing the actual machines, the circuits of the triangle and ram's head are almost the same, and the tones are similar. Baltic Blue Fuzz was developed to create the tone of this era.

Reproduction of vintage fuzz. It's being worked on by builders all over the world. In particular, in order to completely reproduce the sound of the time, it is necessary to be particular about not only the vintage NOS components used, but also the housing, pots, and circuit patterns.

One Control BJF series is an effector that uses an overwhelmingly small housing and is equipped with an original circuit designed by BJF using components that are commonly available today. We believe it is important to have a model that is universal and can be easily obtained anywhere even if something were to happen.

In designing the Baltic Blue Fuzz, BJF combined multiple amplification stages and filters. This design philosophy is similar to the Big Muff, but uses an Op-Amp for stability and compatibility with modern common components.
The earliest Big Muff...the sound that rings in your head when you hear the words triangle or ram's head. That is the image of Baltic Blue Fuzz.

The moment the effect is turned on and the sound is played, everyone can feel that it is that sound. At the same time, it must be a sound that stands out in front of the ensemble.
In other words, when you want the sound of a vintage muff, you can easily carry it around in your pedal board or gig bag and use it like an overdrive or distortion pedal.

Baltic Blue Fuzz is a pedal that creates a vintage muff sound, but at the same time it also focuses on making the sound come out forward. Therefore, it has the same gain range as the vintage BIG MUFF, but is slightly tighter and more original.
