This wonderful instrument is an unusual example of a flattop parlor guitar with a floating bridge made approx. in the 30s in Schönbach, Markneukirchen or one of the other towns belonging to the "Musilwinkel" musical instrument making region on German-Czech border. It is a player-ready, refurbished historical guitar, comfortable to play and resonant, light and produces a characteristic, archtop-like sound thanks to its specific construction. It is in great condition and ready to be played as it should!
Please watch the attached video, which contains a sound sample.
Construction-wise, this is a ladder-braced instrument with a solid, silked spruce top, beautifully figured solid birdseye maple sides and back (one piece), a fully refretted straight neck with comfortable action and a rosewood fretboard with a 16'' radius. The brass tuners are also authentic and work well on all strings. The guitar went through a checkup and refurbishment, cracks seen on the photos were properly repaired and cleated and do not impair the sound or integrity of the instrument in any way.
The guitar boasts quite a lovely and characteristic, percussive sound with some nice definition all around.
The scale lenght is 630 mm, nut width 42 mm, string spacing at the saddle is 57 cm and at the moment, it is strung up with a new set of 11 gauge steel strings.
