Yamaki Performer YPF-800CS Sunburst c.1980s Electric Guitar

Here for sale we have a Yamaki Performer YPF-800CS Electric Guitar from around the 1980s in Sunburst finish. Made in Japan, this guitar consists of a Mahogany body, a Plain Maple top, a Mahogany neck, and a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a Tune-O-Matic bridge, a Stopbar tailpiece, Grover tuners, and two humbucking pickups that are wired to two independent volumes, two independent tones, and a three-way pickup selector.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a 'C' shaped profile that feels comfortable in the hand and allows for easy fretting in any register. The neck feels relatively slim for a Les Paul whilst retaining the character you would expect from a model such as this. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant to the touch and adds a sense of luxury to the playing experience. The 16" radius is slightly flatter for a Les Paul and strikes a nice balance between comfortable chording and practicality for lead lines. The traditional Les Paul control layout feels familiar and easy to use.

This Yamaki YPF-800CS comes fitted with two Humbucking pickups. The neck pickup is warm whilst providing plenty of clarity. Clean sounds are rich and shimmering, each note ringing out with bell-like chime. When driving the amp, the pickups saturate beautifully, offering a thick and creamy distortion sound in the neck position that is great for soloing. The bridge pickup provides a brighter tone, with enough bite to cut through any mix- perfect for those rock rhythm tones.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. Light scratching is present to the front face, rear face and side edges of the headstock, only visible under direct light from certain angles. Light denting which has lightly damaged the finish is present to the front face treble side next to the B string machine head, and to the top side edge bass side. 

Neck: Overall good condition. Scratching and denting is present to the fingerboard and rear of the neck, only visible under direct light from certain angles. This is most noticeable to the middle register of the rear of the neck and to the wood of the fingerboard above the 22nd fret. This can lightly be felt under the thumb on the rear of the neck when in playing position. 

Body: Overall good condition. Light scratching and denting is present to all surfaces of the body, only visible under direct light from certain angles. This is most noticeable to the centre of the rear face, in line with buckle rash. More noticeable scratching is present to the treble side of the rear face. More noticeable denting, which has damaged the finish, is present to the front face top bass side of the lower bout, the bass side edge of the lower bout, treble side of the waist of the rear face and treble side of the lower bout rear face. The bass side of the neck pocket shows cracking to the finish. This does not flex under pressure causing no structural concerns. 

Condition of Frets:

The frets show moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. There is moderate material remaining for any light fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
