Santa Cruz / H Hawaiian Koawood

'Santa Cruz' has been producing high quality Martin copies since 1976.
It is widely known for being used by Tony Rice and Elvis Costello, and specializes in faithfully reproducing "Vintage Martin".

This time we will introduce a model made in 2017 that uses Hawaiian core.
Santa Cruz's "H" model is based on a 1930's acoustic guitar with Santa Cruz's own unique twist.
Regarding this individual, the top spruce has a very dense grain and has a luxurious feel, but the most distinctive feature is that the body uses Hawaiian koa with figured heather.
Acoustic guitars using Hawaiian koa are not so rare these days, but I still think they are less familiar than the sound of mahogany/rosewood.
The dynamic sound that you wouldn't expect from a body as small as Martin's 00 size and the crisp, straightforward sound that is unique to the Hawaiian Koa are very appealing.
Since it is straightforward and has calm overtones, it may give the impression that it is unsatisfactory for those who are used to authentic acoustic music, but as a harmonic instrument, it is an excellent high-end instrument with less muddy sound.

Product Overview
The Santa Cruz H Model is a concert-bodied 14 fret guitar with a 25.375" scale length. It uses a solid Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood back and sides (though Mahogany was an option for some time). The H Model was one of the first models produced by the company when they first opened shop.

The discontinued Mahogany back and sides models are worth slightly less on today's market than the range reflected here. As with all Santa Cruz models, custom options are common, with features such as Koa back and sides or varied finishes adding slightly to the stated value range.
