About This Listing

Original 1965 Atlas Supro Dual-Tone Res-O-Glas Model S424 • Arctic White • HSC

Atlas was a deptartment store in the mid west much like Montgomery Wards or Sears (Airline, Silvertone) that would contract companies to put the store brand on thier instruments.

This Arctic White Supro Dualtone plays really well, is set up nice, and has great sounding fat P-90ish single coil pickups.

These Valco made fiberglass body guitars were only in production for two years 1963-65, which makes them somewhat rare and desirable for thier good looks, excellent tone and playability. But by the end of 65 Supro was back to manufacturing guitars with wood bodies.

Neck is 24 3/4″ scale.

All controls work fine, ink screening on pickup covers has long worn off.

Binding has shrunk and cracked on both sides of the neck. This is a very common issue with these guitars. This one has had the binding professionally stabilized so it won't deteriorate any further or break off.

Body is in really good condition with only small amount of crazing on the sides.

Comes in a period fitted hard case.

Product Overview
The Dual Tone was part of a series of solidbodies produced by Supro starting in the late '50s. These guitars were also distributed under the Airline brand name. Many Supro designs were made from either wood or "Res-o-glass" material. Those made from Reso-o-glass are usually more desirable for collectors.
