Another one of my personal guitars.... This guitar has only been in my shop. It has never been played outside of our studio. Its in MINT Condition!

I had BiLT Guitars custom design a Mastery Model Guitar for me back in 2018. They were making a limited amount of these guitars that were designed by John Woody Woodland the designer and owner of the Mastery Bridge and Trem Company. Woody worked with the designers to come up with this awesome Solid Body Designed guitar. Woody wanted a guitar that he could not only feature his Master Bridge and Trem system, but he also created and designed the art for the awesome Pickguards. He created the art and had it etched into a design, not be repeated for each of the guitars. I think this one is the best design he did. I love it. A short list of owners include Jeff Tweedy, Nels Cline, and Bill Frizell. Oh, and Lawman Mike of course...LOL...

This guitar has a Custom Cherry Red Metallic finish, Solid Sitka Spruce Body, Set Mahogany Neck and of course the Mastery Bridge. The Mastery Trem is also included but was cleverly hidden under the Anodized Aluminum Pickguard. These Whammy's are the smoothest I have ever used. I love the raised BiLT Logo they designed for this model as well as the incorporated Truss Rod Cover that fades into the Cover. Check out those cool tuners. I had not seen those before... A Polished Bone nut and then there are the pickups.....

These pickups were a design that Woody insisted upon. They were not easy to do. I know the pickup builder who worked with BiLT on designing pickups that not only worked in the semi circle design that Woody insisted upon, but also, sounded great. I'm happy to report that they worked it out. These pickups meet or exceed any pickup I have ever owned or used. They sound wonderful. Full of life and very toneful.

The guitar is set up with awesome low playing easy playing action that I insist upon. I have it set up with 9's but it came with 10's that work just as well. The guitar has a 24 3/4 inch scale neck, a 1 3/4 inch bone nut, 21 frets medium size frets, and it weighs 7 lbs 15 ozs.

BilT Guitars is owned and operated by Tim Thelen in Des Moines, Iowa. Rather than go into the usual bio stuff, we thought you might like a look at our philosophy about making guitars.

We're a small company

Unless the proverbial ship comes in, you will more than likely be talking directly to the guy who is going to be carving your neck. You know, we actually like it that way because we can find out exactly what you need and deliver it. We actually care. In our opinion, the best marketing is word of mouth. We will go to great lengths to make sure you are satisfied with your guitar. Happy owners make better music and that makes us happy… so we’re all happy.

Technology!

We employ the latest building techniques as of about 1949 which includes hand tools and some machines powered by induction motors. Not to say we wouldn’t love having all of our parts arrive via long slow boat from china and we just assemble and pay for magazine ads. That’s just not in the cards, so we have to make everything by hand.

No fancy dancy woods

Not that we don’t appreciate the beauty, there are just plenty of folks making guitars with AAAAAAA, double star, prehistoric growth, eyeball flipping, got it from the bottom of a swamp etc. grades of woods. We drive to our supplier, sort through stacks of alder & maple and pick out nice plain clear boards that rock your face off.
