Bluegrass has been attracting attention thanks to the success of the Punch Brothers, Billy Stringz, and others, and in Japan, bluegrass clubs are flourishing at several universities. Going back to the 70s, many of the folk generation may have been introduced to bluegrass through the likes of Takahiko Ishikawa, Tomoya Takaishi, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The five-string banjo is the flower instrument of bluegrass, and this is a signature model of Earl Scruggs, the founder of the bluegrass banjo. Moreover, this is a product made during the tenure of Greg Rich, who contributed to the quality improvement of Gibson banjos.
