The Deep Blue Delay is a natural-sounding digital/analog delay with a direct analog signal path. The Deep Blue Delay has approximately the same bandwidth as classic tape echo units and can be used before an amplifier or in effects loops. There is no noise reduction circuitry, which keeps the echo decay as natural as possible. The direct signal path is short and achieved with analog amplifiers without filtering. There is no distortion or tonal coloration as long as the input level is in the range below the maximum allowed. The echo signal has fine-tuned filtering to allow extreme settings without interference. The delay is specially designed to work well even with distorted tones, as this is the most critical application, where delays often fail. The Deep Blue Delay contains the basic functions, Delay Time, Delay Level and Repeat, and was designed to function as an ambient delay; As a vintage and repeat tape echo, it has been specially designed to allow for easy adjustment and a less critical setting of the delay time. Why digital? Isn't analog better for a solid-state solution? We chose digital construction to make it compact, stable, with reasonable lag times and virtually maintenance free. A similar circuit in analog form would have been excessively more expensive to create. For the same performance, you would have needed three to four of the better BBD chips now only available as vintage parts, and the pedal size about three times the current size.
Controls
LEVEL: Sets the level of the delayed signal mixed with the direct guitar sound.
DELAY: Controls the delay time from 25 ms to 450 ms.
REPEAT: Controls the repeats of the delay signal, turned fully counterclockwise gives a repeat and fully clockwise you get infinite feedback.
Technical specifications
Power: 9V 6F22 battery or power supply
Current consumption at 9V: 32mA
Voltage range: 8V-15V
Input impedance: 180 kOhm
Output impedance: 10 kOhm
Signal to noise ratio: 80 dB
Complete bypass and circuit input to ground when in bypass
