Mark Lacey solid body prototype boutique electric guitar. 24 fret, Floyd Rose, pearl white, very rare, excellent. $2,999.
This is such a great guitar. Thought I’d never get rid of it, but times change. A true gem and collector’s item. Irreplaceable.
I’ve owned and loved this guitar for about 22 years. Well cared for in a humidity controlled studio. Not much play time. It plays and sounds so good. Fast neck, stable, a joy to play.
This guitar was built by world renown and recently deceased luthier, Mark Lacey. In 2017 I contacted Mark about this guitar. Here’s his response:
Hi, Mark, Thanks for sending the photos. This one is definitely a blast from the past. I built only six of these around 1989-90. I believe I was the first luthier to make a 24 fret bolt on neck model. Looks to be in great shape. Regards, Mark Lacey
The build. This plays like a great, luthier-built, boutique guitar. Every bit a Suhr, Anderson, Lipe, Grosh, etc. Amazing vibe, balance, looks and playability. Quartersawn neck with rosewood fretboard. Dunno what the body wood is. Appears to be jumbo frets (.054” tall). Excellent trem. Ultrasonic dynamic pickups sound excellent. Pearl white paint on body and headstock, oiled neck back.
Switching. Standard 5-way blade with the usual 3 pickup configuration. One mini-toggle splits the humbuckers. The other mini-toggle bypasses 5-way blade switch and puts both humbuckers in parallel. Very cool.
Condition. Excellent condition. Well cared for. No significant dings or scratches. No buckle rash. Some minor play wear. Neck is clean. Very little fret wear. Paint is glossy and clean. Everything works as it should.
Specs. Weight, x.x lbs. Fret height, .054”
