About This Listing

Benevolent Basses is a bass brand by Korean builder Jaeyoung Jung.

He studied instrument making at the Roberto Venn School of Luthiery in the U.S., which has produced Adamovic's Nicola and others, and later started his own brand.

He has a reputation for designing basses that incorporate acoustic styles, and his originality and excellent quality are highly acclaimed.

This is the Benevolo Quattro model.

As you can see, the design is a bold mix of double bass.

Cedar is used for the body top and mahogany for the back.

It has a hollowbody construction, a bit like Rick Turner or Rob Allen in this area.

The neck is 3-ply maple, and the fingerboard is black ebony.

The scale is 32" and the pitch between strings is 18mm.

Common strings can be used.

The PU is simple, with only a piezo in the saddle section and controls for volume and tone.

It is comfortable to hold and fits well.

The slightly shorter scale makes it feel more comfortable.

Sound-wise, it is quite close to the double bass.

This would not be possible if it were simply made fretless, so it is probably due to a clear concept and the high level of design ability to give form to it.

It has plenty of lows, which makes it easy to handle.

With a single piezo shot, it can be a little too crunchy, or the overemphasized rawness can be uncomfortable, but there is nothing like that with this one.

Rather than using a poor EUB, I think that using such an instrument gives a stronger nuance like a contrabass.

For those who originally play the electric bass, these instruments are also very useful. It should be fun to play.

This is a type of instrument that is not often seen on the market, so we hope you will give it a try. We are waiting for you.

The truss rod is a little stiff, but we have confirmed that it works about 90 degrees.

The neck is in good condition.

The condition of the body and painted surface shows scattered scratches and uneven paint.

There are some weather checks in places.

There is one wood chip near the neck pocket.

This area may be original.

The electrical system is in good condition.

No obvious modifications were found.
